Q:

How do I enable TLS 1.2 in Internet Explorer?

A:

The latest versions of most browsers automatically have TLS (Transport Layer Security) 1.2 enabled. But if you’re using Internet Explorer 10, you’ll need to enable TLS 1.2 manually.

To check your TLS settings and enable TLS 1.2 in Internet Explorer:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select 'Tools' (usually shown as a cog icon in the top right corner).
  3. From the menu, select ‘Internet options’.
  4. In the pop-up box select the ‘Advanced’ tab.
  5. In the ‘Advanced’ list scroll down to the ‘Security’ section.
  6. Here you’ll find the ‘Use TLS 1.2’ box. Make sure this box is ticked.
  7. Once you've ticked this, click ‘Apply’ then hit ‘OK’ to save the changes. (If the box was already ticked just click ‘OK’.)

If the tick options are greyed out, you may need administration rights on your device or network to apply changes to advanced settings. If you can't change these settings, please refer to your business’s IT support team for assistance.
