How do I clear my temporary internet files and cookies?

A:

You may need to clear your temporary internet files and cookies sometimes to ensure you're viewing the latest update of a website.

For example, if a page isn't displaying correctly this could be due to older information that has been previously stored in Cookies. 

To clear your temporary internet files and cookies follow the instructions for the internet browser you're using. If you need further guidance refer to your browser support pages.

Internet Explorer

  1. Select 'Tools', (this may be displayed as a cog symbol in the right hand side of the browser).
  2. Select 'Safety' > 'Delete browsing history...'
  3. In the 'Delete Browsing History' window that opens ensure 'Cookies' and 'Temporary Internet files' are ticked and press 'Delete'.
  4. Hit 'OK 'to close the options.

Alternatively, holding down the keys Ctrl + Shift + Delete will open up the 'Delete Browsing History' window.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click 'More actions' (they appear as 3 dots on the top right hand side of the browser).
  2. Click on 'Settings'.
  3. Under 'Clear browsing data', select 'Choose what to clear', then select 'Cookies and saved website data' and 'Cached data and files'.
  4. Hit 'Clear'.

Alternatively, holding down the keys Ctrl + Shift + Delete will open up the 'Clear' browsing data window.

Google Chrome

  1. Select the '3 horizontal lines' icon in the top right corner > 'More tools' > 'Clear browsing data...' on a PC or 'Chrome' menu > 'Clear Browsing Data..' on a Mac.
  2. Change the 'Obliterate the following items from:' drop down menu to 'the beginning of time'.
  3. In the 'Clear browsing data' popup that opens ensure 'Empty the cache' and 'Delete cookies and other site and plugin data' is ticked.
  4. Select 'Clear browsing data'.

  2. In the 'Clear All History' window that opens change the 'Time Range To Clear' drop down menu to 'Everything'.
