Q:

How do I reclaim funds from a direct debit taken in error?

A:

To reclaim funds for a direct debit that’s been taken from your account in error, you can use the direct debit indemnity claim form in the link below.

Please note, you should only use this form if:

  • the funds have already left your account (if they’re due to leave today or tomorrow contact your customer service team instead)
  • you’re a commercial banking customer. If you’re a business banking customer, please contact your customer service team and they’ll be able to help you make a claim.

Once you’ve completed this form in full, email it to your usual customer service team and they'll take it from there.

Just so you know, if the company or person you’ve paid disputes the claim and the payment turns out to be valid, or if you receive a refund direct to your account, we’ll recover the funds and inform you.
