Intermediary institution ID

A party between the receiver and the account with institution through which the transaction must pass. Only available if you have previously registered to use intermediaries. Your Relationship Manager will be able to confirm if you need to specify an intermediary institution.
The ID must be a BIC. You can't use a sort code (or other National Clearing Code). You should not use an intermediary institution unless absolutely necessary, as it can increase charges and delay your payment. If you do enter an intermediary, you must first check with the intermediary that they are able to route the payment to the beneficiary bank, otherwise it may not be possible for the intermediary to deliver your payment.
