Code words and text

Code words are abbreviated messages that give additional instructions to the recipient of the funds.

You should only use code words if you have registered to use them with SWIFT. Contact your RBS Relationship Manager if you need any guidance on the use of code words.

You should only use code words when absolutely necessary, as they could delay your payment and increase payment charges. You should agree in advance with the relevant bank that they will act on the code word.
